This collection consists of items taken from a Japanese sailor during World War II when he was taken prisoner after being shipwrecked in the East China Sea off Okinawa.

Jack F. Sweatte served as a sailor in the U.S. Navy on board the USS San Francisco and the USS Hazard during World War II. During his time overseas, he collected items from a Japanese sailor during World War II when he was taken prisoner after being shipwrecked in the East China Sea off Okinawa. Currently, there is no further information from this collection.
Scope and arrangement
This collection consists of items taken from a Japanese sailor during World War II when he was taken prisoner after being shipwrecked in the East China Sea off Okinawa. Included is a wallet and its contents and a name seal carved in wood. The wallet contents included 5 and 50 Sen banknotes from Japan, a one penny banknote from Fiji, and a 10 Dong banknote from Vietnam. There is also document, torn into two pieces, which might be a Japanese ration book.
