This collection includes the records (1937-2016) of the Inter Se Book Club of Greenville, North Carolina, from its founding. Included are minutes, programs, correspondence, yearbooks, clippings, and other materials.
The first club meeting was held at the home of Mrs. W.E. Hooker on March 11, 1937. At this meeting Mrs. W.H. Taft was elected President, Mrs. Wyatt Brown was elected Vice President and Mrs. R.J. Coleman was elected Secretary-Treasurer. The club was officially chartered on March 31, 1937. The name of the book club is a Latin expression meaning "among ourselves". Early members each gave $2.50 per year to buy books to eventually donate to local libraries. The club enjoyed social events as well as having speakers come to their meetings to discuss a variety of topics. In 2007 the club celebrated their 70th Anniversary. The club is still active today.
Included in the records are meeting minutes, yearbooks, programs and invitations, club constitution and by-laws, clippings, obituaries and rosters.
