This collection contains hand written letters, typed printed materials, scrapbooks, genealogical research materials, and photographs relating to the Winslow and Towe families.
Biographical/historical information
Half of the collection focuses on letter sent back and forth to Robert Leslie Towe, a cashier at the First National Bank and his wife Sallie J. Winslow, a student at the East Carolina Teachers Training School. The other half is about the Winslow family and Towe family genealogy. The Winslow family was from Winfall, North Carolina and the Towe family was from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Scope and arrangement
This collection is separated into 4 series, (1) correspondence, (2) photographic prints, (3) scrapbooks & genealogical research material, (4) printed material. The bulk of the collection are letters from Miss Sallie Winslow and Robert Towe.

September 9, 2008, 167 items, 1.0 cubic feet; Papers (1886–2003, undated) of the Winslow family of Winfall, North Carolina and the Towe family of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., including correspondence, photographic prints, scrapbook and genealogical research materials, and printed materials. Also includes correspondence of Sallie J. Winslow while a student at East Carolina Teachers Training School, Greenville, N.C., with her future husband, Robert Leslie Towe, an assistant cashier of the First National Bank of Roanoke Rapids, ca. 1915–1918. See preliminary inventory attached. Note: Papers were found in the home of Mrs. George (Sara Crawford) Wood; they were inherited by the donor, who is Mrs. Wood's daughter, following her death in 2007; and they were received through the courtesy of the donor's cousin, Dr. Dan Winslow and Mrs. Winslow, in Townsville, N.C.
