Biographical/historical information
The town of Vanceboro has had three names: Durgantown, Swift Creek, and then Vanceboro. Vanceboro was named after Vance in 1877 when he ran for Governor and won. Vanceboro is in Craven County and now operates in the Mayor-Council form of government. The Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School serves PK-5th grade in the Vanceboro area.
