Indians Fishing print (ca. 1970s) (no. 46 A, cf. pl. 129) of a water color by John White showing Indians of the Pamlico Sound wading in shallow water and in canoes fishing with spears and weirs in 1585; a reproduction by the Roanoke Island Historical Association from a watercolor copy in the North Carolina Collection and the University Library in Chapel Hill. This version appeared in the German language edition of Thomas Harriot's A briefe and true report of the new found land of Virginia (1590). Thomas Harriot, who landed with the first colonists, is the namesake of ECU Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences
