Contains a single record book (1893-1929) of quarterly meetings of union members and representatives of eastern North Carolina churches.
The Skewarkey Baptist Church was formed ca. 1780 after separating from the Flat Swamp Church. During the Primitive Baptist movement in the 1830s, Skewarkey Baptist Church aligned themselves with the movement and shared fellowship in the Kehukee Association. The church served as a meeting point, or "mother church," for smaller congregations around the Roanoke and Tar River.
The bulk of this collection is a record book of quarterly minutes of church union members and representatives from various churches in eastern North Carolina. Other documents include correspondence and a resolution.
