July 11, 2005 (unprocessed addition 1), 1 item, 0.001 cubic feet; Clipping (ca. 1945) from a Baltimore, Md., newspaper, entitled "Battle Off Okinawa: City Sailor Leaps Into Sea To Save Officer," describing how Seaman 1 Class Pat J. Macciocca rescued Lt. John W. Gilpin, the executive officers of the USS Evans, when the latter was blown overboard during a Japanese Kamikaze attack; article has a portrait of Macciocca. Incomplete. Photocopy. Donor: Mrs. John W. Gilpin.
