Captain Edward C. Svendsen was a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1941 and served on board USS Mississippi in the Pacific during World War II. During that time he also served as an engineering officer and as project manager of the Naval Tactical Data System. Captain Svendsen was a post-graduate school at the Naval Academy, worked at the U.S. Naval Computer Machine Laboratory, performed duties at the San Francisco Navy Yard, was assigned to the Design Division at the Bureau of Ships, and worked on the Naval Tactical Data System.
