Collection (1881-1890) including photocopies of records, minutes, reports of entire county system, pay scale, race.

Scope and arrangement

The collection consists primarily of minutes of school board meetings and financial reports of the Fifth School District of Halifax County for the years 1881 to 1890. Also included are several reports concerning the entire county school system. These records reflect the ratio of Black to white students, of male to female students, and of the money appropriated for the separate schools for the two races. Also of interest are those reports which reflect pay scales for teachers and disciplinary actions taken against teachers.
