Biographical/historical information
Davis W. Harmon lived in Northampton County, N.C. during the 1800's. In 1824, the state put a warrant out for his arrest due to non-payment of a debt. Prior to 1840, he traveled to the Midwest.
George D. Holoman was a blacksmith in Northampton County during the 1850's. He served as postmaster of the Potecasi post office in 1858, as a Northampton County Commissioner from 1868-1869, and in the North Carolina Senate from 1872-1874 and again in 1879-1880.

Scope and arrangement
This collection consists of two items of correspondence (1840-1841) concerning Davis W. Harmon of Northampton County, N.C., one of which refers to his travels in the Midwest. Also included is an 1824 warrant for the arrest of Harmon, issued by Northampton County, for non-payment of a debt. Of interest is an account book covering the period January to August 1855, belonging to G. D. Holoman, a Northampton County blacksmith. The book recounts the daily activities of Holoman's business.
