Abstract:
In 1905, Edgecombe was divided into 14 townships with a population of around 26,600 people. The county seat, Tarboro had a population of 3,800. The county had access to two hospitals, Pittman Sanatorium and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Hospital.
