Abstract:
James S. Ficklen of Greenville, North Carolina died in September, 1955. Ficklen headed the E.B. Ficklen Tobacco Company, an important entity in the economic life of eastern North Carolina. Ficklen was also devoted to civic affairs, part of the North Carolina Citizens Association, chairman of the Board of the Guaranty Bank and Trust and Wachovia Bank and Trust Companies. Leslie Stone, born 1895 in Kittrell, North Carolina, attended the University of North Carolina and received a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. Stone has served at the US Naval Hospital, Naval Medical School, and US Naval Operating Base in Bermuda. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit award for his service as medical officer in command at the US Naval Hospital at Pearl Harbor.
