On July 4, 1976, American’s celebrated the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Following the commemoration, the Guilford County American Revolution Bicentennial Commission noted that the Battle of Guilford Courthouse fought March 15, 1781, was an important event in North Carolina history. Various plays, reenactments, and ceremonies are now recognizing this historical event.

North Carolina’s new Piedmont Correctional Center in Rowan County was constructed to be efficient and cost effective. The center utilized innovations in design, construction, and inmate control. The center also provides an atmosphere which encourages rehabilitation and opportunities for inmates to learn how to become better members of society.

R. Twining & Co., Ltd., a British tea company, has opened a distribution facility in Greensboro. The new center has the capacity to package six million tea bags a week to service a growing market in the United States and Canada. Greensboro was chosen because its location is the center of an efficient trucking system and an area which emphasizes a pollution-free environment.
