Abstract:
On Hurst's Beach in Onslow's County pony round-ups, similar to Ocracoke, took place once a year. One difference is that the ponies of Hurst Beach were all owned by Mr. H. A. Jarman of Jacksonville. Once a year ponies were penned so young ones could be branded and older ponies selected to be broken.

Abstract:
Julian Price founded the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company in Greensboro in 1909. Two years later the company had $9 million insurance in force. Today the company has over $376,000,000 in force. Goerch recounts how the company started and some of the men who brought the company to prominence.
