Abstract:
On Hurst's Beach in Onslow's County pony round-ups, similar to Ocracoke, took place once a year. One difference is that the ponies of Hurst Beach were all owned by Mr. H. A. Jarman of Jacksonville. Once a year ponies were penned so young ones could be branded and older ponies selected to be broken.
