Abstract:

Diana Beasley, a biology teacher at Hickory High School in Catawba County, is North Carolina's 2006 Teacher of the Year. Beasley will spend the school year traveling the state on behalf of North Carolina's students and educators. Six other regional winners will receive professional leave to join with Miller in promoting the teaching profession. They are Grady Coleman Bailey, Jr., Northeast Region; William Ferriter, North Central Region; Bradley Hyatt, Southeast Region; Shayne Madison, Piedmont-Triad/Central Region; James Strope, Southeast Region; and Debra Stuckey, Sandhills/South Central Region.
