Greenville Marine began as a boat seller in 1973. It expanded with a tackle shop in 1993 and now offers a full archery range and shop and hunting supplies. Joe Varnell has been with the business for the past 30 years.

the Coastal Plain League has a history going back to the 1930s. The Greenville Greenies were charter members of the original CPL, which competed from 1937-41.CPL came back in 1997 and in 2022 was purchased by Capitol Broadcasting. An agreement was reached to re-establish the Greenville franchise starting in 2024.
