The Burlington Rotary Boys Choir, under the director of Miss Eva Wisemen, first performed in November 1959 and is believed to be the oldest organization of its kind in the state in terms of a continuous history. During its eleven years, the choir has sung for over 100,000 people, made phonograph records, appeared on television, taken a six-nation European tour, and performed for President Nixon at the White House.

The Carolina Repertory Company is North Carolina's first statewide theater group. The founders are J. E. Dietz, Executive Producer, and John L. Haber, Artistic Director. The initial tour will carry a production to towns across the state; many have never experienced any kind of theatre. After the 1972 tour, subsequent touring is planned on a full-time eight-month basis.

Raymond S. Dossett Jr.'s position with the North Carolina State Highway Commission is probably the only one of its kind in the country. He holds the position of Highway Marine Engineer. In this capacity he is involved in creating and proposing designs for all of North Carolina's floating equipment, especially ferries.
