On June 2, 1760, Alexander Ross of the borough of Norfolk, VA sold to Peter Rives of Sussex Co., VA land on the north side of the Tar River, granted to Walter Kelly by Patent dated Nov. 17, 1738; then conveyed to Benjamin Forbes. The Court took Forbes property for debt and on Apr. 11, 1754 Thomas Williams, the Sheriff of Beaufort County, sold the land to Alexander Ross.

On Sept. 8, 1768, Harry Smith and wife Frances, of Craven Co., NC, sold to William Murphey, of Craven Co., NC, two tracts. One tract being granted to Charles Smith on Nov. 27, 1762. The other tract being a Patent to John Durham, who deeded it to William Charlton, Jr., who deeded it to Charles Smith, and then fell to his son, Harry Smith. Witnessed by William Blount, George Smith, Abraham Smith.
