Abstract:
This year’s elections showed that diverse voters will support Democratic candidates, but only those who run tough on the issues. The political tides appears to be turning in North Carolina as a handful of Democratic candidates beat out Republican incumbents.

Abstract:
North Carolina is one of the first states to establish a state league of conservation voters. They will monitor and publicize legislators’ conservation votes, and work to elect pro-environment candidates for the General Assembly. A questionnaire is being sent to all candidates for all state legislature seats to determine their priorities.

North Carolina is being watched more closely these days by politicians to pick up ideas about 1966 and 1968 General Election trends. Recently, the Republican Party has been on top and is slated to take another leap forward, potentially winning the Governorship and other high state-level offices.

Abstract:
There are around 2,320,592 potential voters in North Carolina in 1948. Of these potential voters, 1,277,846 registered to vote for the Democratic and Republican primaries. Of these registered voters, 438,211 took the trouble to vote. In other words, only 55% of potential voters, registered while only 34% of registered voters actually voted.
