Abstract:

Fred H. McIntyre, Sr. and several other businessmen founded Mid-State Tile Company in Lexington in the 1950s. Ceramic production began there in 1957. In 1974, a second plant went into production at Mount Gilead. The product line now exceeds 6,000 items.
