John Allen, age 104 in 1876, was born on Oct. 9, 1771 at sea when his parents were coming from England to America. He left his home near Greenville, NC and walked for a year to Huntington, WV.

John E. C. Godley, who claimed to be 104 years old on June 6, 1902. He claimed to be a veteran of the War of 1812-15, the Seminole War in Florida, the Mexican War and the Civil War. He had been married twice and had five children. He was a root and herb doctor who made wonderful soap.

In Sept. 1898, Fane Tucker, a negro pauper woman, died aged 117 years of age. She was one year older than her mistress, Mrs. Sara Tucker, who died in 1873, aged ninety-one. Lem Teel, Fane’s brother who is in the poor house, is about 100 years old.
