Through four generations, the Whichard family of Greenville has been reporting and publishing the daily news. The DAILY REFLECTOR has been published since 1882.
Reprinted was Clarissa Humphrey’s November 17, 1941 Pieces of Eight article. She described the then current First Lady and author of daily “My Day” newspaper column’s visit. Also reprinted was her article’s accompanied photo of Roosevelt and a local Girl Scouts troop on the Dail House steps. Included was the “My Day” article written by Roosevelt the day after her visit.
The Daily Reflector donated 80,000 photos, taken between 1949-1967, to Joyner Library. Among the photos, also digitized, were ones accessible outside of library walls. This was possible through Greenville in the 20th Century, a book written by an ECU history professor and two Joyner librarians.
