Mars Hill Junior College, founded in 1856 in Madison County, twenty miles from Asheville, is one of the South's best junior colleges. Campbell recounts the history of the school, paying special attention to the period from 1897 to the present, which covers the administration of Dr. R. L. Moore and his wife Mrs. Edna Corpening Moore.
