Abstract:

The Jarvisburg Colored School, located in Jarvisburg, Currituck County, was the oldest African-American school in North Carolina. In 1894, the school building was moved to Grandy, NC. After numerous uses, the Jarvisburg Colored School was preserved and in 2014 became a museum.
