Fayetteville's late mayor, Bill Hurley affectionately described Rosalie Huske Kelly as the city's "First Lady of History". She was a leader for historic preservation in Fayetteville and worked well with others in advancing Fayetteville's "All American City" designation and frequently gave talks, tours and related work for promoting Fayetteville's history.

"As A champion of preservation and a walking encyclopedia of Fayetteville's history, Bruce Daws has pursued his passion for building on the past." Daws was named historic properties manager for Fayetteville in 1996. three of his pet projects over the years have been the Fayetteville Transportation and History Museum, the Market House and Cross Creek Cemetery.
