Abstract:
The Regional Education Laboratory for the Carolinas and Virginia (RELCV) is a nonprofit organization, one of fifteen educational laboratories across the country receiving federal funds to close the gap between the findings of educational research and the development of useful products to bring about change in schools. The authors discuss how the program is working in the Durham schools.

Some Triangle area schools and educators are genuine innovators in the field of education. R.N. Harris Elementary School in southeast Durham is praised as a school of the arts, and Wake Forest-Rolesville High School is known for a unique approach to student scheduling.
