Abstract:
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission District Eight offers the widest variety of topography, climate, and game found anywhere in North Carolina. Smith describes this district, which, going south to north, rises from 1,000 feet to 6,000, has mild winters to severe ones, and contains populous cities like Hickory and Gastonia and wild primitive areas like Linville Gorge and national forests.
