John Sprunt Hill is an initial member of the NORTH CAROLINA magazine Business Hall of Fame. He was a successful banker and philanthropist, having founded, among others, the Durham Bank & Trust Company. He was active in public service and in politics, serving a number of terms in the North Carolina General Assembly and as the first State Highway Commissioner.
