Abstract:
The 1986 Dixie Deer Classic, the fourth sponsored by the Wake County Wildlife Club of Raleigh, was the best attended, biggest trophy display and most profitable of any of the club’s activities. This year’s highlight was the attainment of the first Boone and Crockett record head for the state.

Abstract:
Joe Chambers was known for his songbird and waterfowl decoy carvings. The North Carolina Wildlife Federation set up a memorial fund in his honor. The fund will provide money through public contributions to aid students of wildlife.

The R-C Wildlife Club hosted the North Carolina Wildlife Federation Board of Directors meeting in June. A number of policy and management changes were considered in a renewed effort to increase the efficiency of the operations and to quickly build membership.

The Pitt County Wildlife Club hosted a North Carolina Wildlife Federation board meeting last November in Greenville. The meeting featured a tour of the Grady White Boat Company, offering the directors a new understanding of modern recreational boat construction.

The Dixie Deer Classic is an event created by the Wake County Wildlife Club. Its purpose is to educate and inform the public on management of the whitetail deer. This year’s event featured numerous presentations and seminars by well-known deer experts and wildlife conservationists.

The Wake County Wildlife Club is hosting the 14th Annual Wildlife Art Show and Sale in Raleigh this December. The show will feature wildlife carvings of Joe Chambers. Recently, Joe produced a life size pair of whitetail deer heads, a buck and a doe.
