Abstract:
House researchers seek to know who owned property and when. The Harvey Mansion, built in the 1790s, and its surrounding property, have been sold a number of times. As of 1997, the house was functioning as a restaurant.

Abstract:
Tryon Palace was constructed in New Bern between 1767 and 1770. The stately mansion, the seat of Royal Governor William Tryon, was considered the most elegant government building in English America. In 1798, it burned to the ground and was rebuilt from the original plans in the 1950s. Ruckart describes how the land, on which the original Tryon Palace had stood, was used in the intervening years.

The Bright House in New Bern was built by James and Mary Bright, who occupied the house until about 1800. Over the years, the house has been sold and relocated numerous times in New Bern. The Bright House is now restored and located on Craven Street.

Graham Tull Richardson’s name reflects a common practice during the nineteenth century: naming a child after the family doctor, John Graham Tull. What follows the origin of Graham Richardson’s name is a discussion of Dr. Tull’s heritage. Noted events included: arrival of Dr. Tull’s great-great-great grandfather, Reverend Dr. Charles Chauncy, in Plymouth in 1638; his mother Eliza Graham’s marriage to Isaac Tull in 1814; and the burial of Dr. Tull’s daughter, Julia, in Cedar Grove Cemetery in 1934.
