Abstract:
Last year two North Carolinians traveled from Raleigh to the Soviet Union on a scientific collection expedition. Their purpose was to find the taimen, the largest salmonid species in the world, and the lenok, a salmonid fish native to Siberian rivers. These fish will be displayed at the Tennessee Aquarium in June 1992.

About eighty percent of North Carolina land is in private ownership. The N.C. Wildlife Federation is continually seeking ways to encourage and support landowners’ efforts to wisely manage the natural resources they oversee.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission approved a new management plan for trout resources. The plan will enhance the quality and diversity of trout fishing opportunities, while protecting trout habitat and preventing degradation of the resource.
