Abstract:

Wake Technical Community College recently received a federal grant to jumpstart the college's Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence's electric vehicle training program. The state is emerging as a center for electric vehicle technology. North Carolina is also a key source for lithium used in EV batteries.

Will Kornegay, 38 runs Ripe Revival which supplies vegetables and fruit to supermarkets. the business combines for profit and philanthropic efforts like providing produce to area food banks. In September 2024, the business received a $1.9 million grant from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs for purchase of a facility in Nash County.
