Abstract:
In 2023, the North Carolina General Assembly appropriated $6.5 million to begin renovations on the 15,00 square foot building. This is in addition to $7 million already poured into the building for stabilization projects. Upon completion of the project, expected to take four years, are to have the Hyde County Extension offices relocate in the facility. Lewis Forest of Greenville served as historical curator for the project. the building has been vacant for the past 25 years.
Abstract:
Blake Haddock is founder and owner of Feather Point Retrievers in Greenville. Located on a 100 acre farm off Highway 264, the facility specializes in breeding American Labradors as well as training dogs to retrieve during a waterfowl hunt. Haddock's method involves training dogs alongside their owners, the ultimate reward in this for the owner is having both a retriever and companion in one dog.
Abstract:
Goose Creek joined the NC State Parks system in September 1974. Early on, it was recognized that the park's few remaining longleaf pines needed protection. The park's first superintendent, Lauris Joyner was one of the first employees in the system to be trained in the method of prescribed burns, critical for the survival of longleaf pines.
