The woman with the headache is a
creature to be pitied. (senerally she
could help itif she would, for a head-
~ache is simply navureTs revenge for
some crime against it. It comes usually
from overeating, undereating or irreg"
ular eating, which causes indgestion and
guses in the stomach Cause preaure on
the brain, and that causes the very
worst of heaches.
The most trying time for a sick
person is between the hours ot 1 and
4in the morning. Vitality becomes
diminished, and the strength should
therefore be fortified as far as possible
with some strong food, either soup or
egg, or milk, about midmght.
Nature takes the time when one ig
lying down to give the heait rest, and
that organ consequently makes ten
strokes less a minute than when ore 1s
in an upright posture. Multiply that by
sixty minutes and it is 600 strokes.
Therefore in eight hours spent in tying
down the heart is saved nearly 5,000
suroks, and as the heart pumps six
ounces of blood with eich stroke it
lifts 30,000 ounces less of blood in a
night of eight hours spent in bed than

the blood flows so much more slowly

Without once looking this way,
You knew I was here in the darkness
Just watching for you, my light,
Who can make any hour séem bright.
You seem like a lovely fairy, |
An angel, and woman too ;
There is something of earch and heaven
In all that you say and do,
While I am only human,
And it drives me wild to see
You dancing, or gaily talking
With any man except me.
Yes, I know that love is jealous,
And I love you with all my soul,
Sumetimes witb a heartfelt longing
Beyond my mind's control.
And then when I see you ftirting
I mean that you seem to be,
You cannot tell how meddening
The sight of it is to me.
So please be good to me sweetheart,

Mr. Cleveland is Happy.
An old friend of Grover Cleveland
dropped down to Washington a day or
two ago to see him on businesss and so-
cially as well, He says he never saw
the President in such good humer since
the old days when the boys played
poker in HitchcockTs back room across
the way from the First Presbyterian
church in Buttalo.
oMaje,T said the president, oITm the
happiest man in America. Just look at
this little memorandum book. I have
cot the days marked down to March 4,
and every day I cross off one of the
days remaining. When the last one
goes, pop! I will be free. Fiee! You
donTt know what ~that means to me
who have been o slave for the past
four years.
oCome and see me then, Maje.
