In 1969, Detachment 600 was chosen as one of five detachments in the U.S. to accept women. Martha Van Hoy (pictured here) was the first woman in East Carolina's AFROTC program. The first female AFROTC cadets became part of Angel Flight, an honorary organization comprised of over 3,000 women from 100 schools in the United States. Date approximated.
