Dear Mr. Gentry:

I was delighted to learn from Carlene Offutt of The Stephen Foster Story that you
will be able to join us for dinner and offer a few words of wisdom at the
National Outdoor Drama Conference, Thursday evening, October 24, in Bardstown.

As Carlene may have told you, we expect the conference to include producers,
directors, playwrights, composers, promoters, and representatives from half a
dozen communities in the process of planning outdoor historical dramas, all of
whom will be participating in workshops, panel sessions and local tours. The
highlight of the conference will be the opportunity to see first-hand the
operations of The Stephen Foster Story, long considered one of the nation??Ts
premiere outdoor dramas.

Of all people, you are well aware of the economic impact outdoor dramas have in
the large travel and tourism industry, and we count ourselves very lucky to have
you share your thoughts on that subject, especially as it relates to Kentucky.
In fact, we have taken the liberty to refer to your remarks as "The Economic
Impact of Kentucky???s Outdoor Dramas." I trust by now, Carlene has given you a
packet of information which may be helpful in the preparation of your remarks.
If not, please let me know and we will be sure you receive whatever you need.

I am enclosing an in-house copy of the conference schedule to give you some idea
of the scope of the meeting. You will receive the official conference brochure
in early September.

We are also very fortunate to have with us at the dinner Bill and Martha Nell
Hardy, who will present a special performance of A. R. Gurney???s Love Letters
immediately following your remarks. That being the case, I should think your
comments would best fit in a 15-minute time period. Hope that suits you.

Meanwhile, we look forward to having you with us for the banquet from 7:30pm
until 9:00pm, Thursday, October 24, at The Holiday Inn in Bardstown. If you can
break free to come over before the dinner, we would be especially pleased to have

you as our guest during a social hour from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, also in The Holiday
Inn.

Thanks again for your willingness to be with us.
