Cherokee, North Carolina Home of UNTO THESE HILLS

Sarees by the beautiful wilderneSof the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this is the
ancestral home of the Cherokee Indian Nation, and site of Kermit Hunter?Ts UNTO THESE HILLS.
The play, with a cast of 130, tells the tragic story of the Cherokee Indians?T exile from their home-
land. Since opening in the Mountainside Theatre on July 1, 1950, UNTO THESE HILLS has
played to nearly 5 million people, and is one of the true benchmarks of American Outdoor His-
torical Drama. The Cherokee Historical Association will host the Conference and offer an insider?Ts
view of theatre operations, facilities, and community involvement.
