Letter from Venetia Cox to Jeannette Cox
A handwritten letter from Venetia Cox at the Union Language School in Peking [Beijing], China, to her sister Jeanette Cox in Trenton, North Carolina. She writes about Christmas celebrations with the Anglican Mission and her interest in Chinese music. She discusses an ongoing series of lectures alternating at the American and English Legations and briefly mentions Sir John Jordan. She tells how she spent a day meditating at the English chapel and recommends some books to read for meditation. A native of Winterville, Venetia Cox was an Episcopal missionary music teacher in mainland China between 1917 and 1950.
