Close up view of the Victory Bell and the plaque on the base, near Christenbury Memorial Gymnasium at East Carolina College. Plaque reads: "Erected by Veterans Club, 1953, in recognition of men and women of ECC who served in our country's armed forces" Cast in Philadelphia in 1855, the bell was used on the USS Broome, which was christened in 1919. The Victory Bell was a gift to the college from the United States Department of the Navy.
