Explosion causes heavy damage to plant
Description
An early morning explosion caused heavy damage to the Union Carbide plant in Greenville. The blast which occured shortly after 7 a.m., sent flying debris 100 yards from the plant and broke windows of businesses near by. Cause of the explosion has not been determined by plant officials and the estimate of damage, which was not available, is said to be high. One person was injured in the blast.
