Saddle

Title
Saddle
Description
When a country doctor did not have access to a buggy, surrey, or automobile he often relied on his trusty horse for transportation. Local legend has it that this western style saddle was owned by Dr. T. O. Coppedge, Sr. who traveled from North Carolina to Texas to find his fortune. He later brought the saddle back to North Carolina. It symbolizes the importance of the horse to country doctors throughout North Carolina.

Regarding the name of the doctor who owned the saddle--it is spelled Coppedge, Not Coppedege. My husband is a great grandson of Dr. T.O. Coppedge's brother, Dr. Oliver Coppedge who came to Texas from North Carolina and settled in Concrete Texas
