Child's Phonograph

Music is something that belongs to all ages and times. Before CD’s and MP-3 players people would listen to music on a phonograph. The one pictured here is a child’s phonograph made by Sears. It is the Silvertone model. Around the sides of the phonographs base are illustrations from well-known Mother Goose nursery Rhymes. A phonograph was used to play records or what some people call vinyl. The record playing on this one is Jimmy Clanton’s Teenage Millionaire. The owner of this phonograph would place his records on top and lower the lever with the needle. The turning of the record against the needle is what would produce the sound. more...
