I have come in contact with the certificate that was awarded to Louise Hall from the Statesville Female College. It is for Literature and Science. I had got this from someone, that didn't realize it was behind a copy of the declaration of independence. This is most likely James Luther Fowle (10/14/1897 Washington, NC - 11/01/1978 Chattanooga, TN) who was a student at Davidson College. He graduated with an A.B. degree in 1920 and later became a well-known minister in Chattanooga Tennessee. His father was Samuel Richardson Fowle Sr (7/19/1856 - 5/24/1946) of Washington, NC owner of the S.R. Fowle & Son Company.
