This tobacco patch looks as if it was damaged by hail. In late June of 1950, a hail storm swept through Franklin and Nash Counties, bringing much destruction. The community of Union Hope, in Nash County was hit hard. I remember seeing a field down on the Willie Vick Road, completely destroyed. The two foot plants were torn in shreds. Hopefully, the farmer had insurance.
