Then Carl Lowrance moved bass fishing into the electronic age with the creation of the LO-K-Tor, a portable device that allowed fishermen to see below the surface. The device first appeared in North Carolina in 1961. Gaddis describes its development and subsequent acceptance by sports fishermen.
