Abstract:
Education commanded much time and attention from the 1971 North Carolina General Assembly. The result was the enactment of a substantial amount of new law and the funding of several new programs. The more notable enactments included the extension of employment terms for principals, supervisors and teachers; prohibition against dangerous weapons on school property; teacher tenure statute; and school counselors.

Legislation in the 1971 North Carolina General Assembly focused on the appropriations for state health agencies and special programs, special funding for health education, and regulations over home health agencies.
