Deans Farm Market has been an institution in Wilson County since 1965. James sharpe and wife Courtney took over the business in 2001. the sharps added a commercial kitchen to Deans in 2016. Customers can buy prepared foods sourced directly from the farm. An educational component provides youngsters with hands-on-activities and field trips around the farm.

Currently, a number of North Carolina farm families offer bookings and overnight stays on their properties. Guests can experience a number of activities like piking berries, collecting eggs, etc. Information on five farms and ranches participating in this mutually beneficial form of agritourism are discussed.
