With a new all-time high number of incoming freshmen, ECU is filled to capacity. There are no empty dorms, classrooms or offices. Several new staff members had to be hired and the only solution to the space issue is to build more off campus.

With the expansion of seating and addition of luxury suites, ECU’s Dowdy-Ficklen Staduim is scheduled for an extreme makeover. In addition, other sports facilities will be added so that various sports do not have to share one gym.

Hugh Johnson, an ECU alum, brought the big names to Minges for concerts in the 1970’s and 80’s. Now, he has been working for Vince Gill since 1989. He is on the road a lot, but enjoys the family feeling from the group he works with.
