Chancellor Cecil Staton’s vision was to continue bringing ECU to a nationally prominent university status. Forwarding ECU to that status were initiatives such as expanding the Department of Public Health into the School of Public Health and doubling the amount of external funding for research.

Navigating rural communities toward wellness are volunteer health advisors, graduates of a program operated by the Brody School of Medicine and College of Nursing. Working in homes, churches, and community organizations, they, under the guidance of licensed health care professionals, help individuals manage chronic diseases. Activities offered through this program include nutrition classes, health fairs, and periodic progress checks.
Abstract:
Companion journal for the North Carolina Historical Review, NCLR embraces North Carolina’s diversity and plays an important role on East Carolina University’s campus. It features renowned writers such as Clyde Edgerton as well as unknown writers, is implemented as a teaching tool in literature courses, and trains student employees about the intricacies of publication.

The season that helped spur NFL careers also captured the spirit of ECU in a way that few of its seasons and teams have. Participants and fans offer a play by play account of the 1991-1992 season’s most memorable event, the Peach Bowl game against NC State.

An ECU Maritime Archaeology graduate snorkeled for a worthy cause. Part of a Sedna Epic Expedition team in the Canadian Arctic that year, she helped raise awareness for climate change, by taking note of microplastics levels and wildlife along with shipwrecks. Her passion for climate change is also expended Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
